Park Place Adult Day Services was opened in 1985 as an independent, nonprofit agency serving
the South Wood County area. Park Place is certified by the State of Wisconsin for up to 24
clients, 5 days per week. We are a member of the Wisconsin Adult Day Services Association
and provide services for any vulnerable or dependent adult but specialize in dementia care. Staff
members are specially trained to provide person centered care, which means any client who is
unable or does not want to do the planned activities, is offered other choices. To accomplish
this, we have 1 staff for every 4 clients. Besides Alzheimer’s Disease, we have clients with other
forms of dementia and those with physical or developmental disabilities, strokes, head injuries,
or brain disorders. We work and are funded by Incourage Community Foundation and the United
Way of South Wood & Adams Counties. A Board of Directors, composed of community
leaders, guide Park Place Adult Day Services in planning and policy.
At Park Place, clients are provided, at no cost, a hot, well balanced meal during hours
of operation, Monday through Friday 07:30-4:30 (only closing for holidays or inclement
weather), if they stay a minimum of 5 hours on any of those days. Park Place offers clients a full
day of activities that assist them in maintaining the maximum level of independence and
function, and promote socialization and mental stimulation. Park Place provides the caregivers
respite so they may work, socialize, and generally take care of individual needs to maintain their
own optimal mental and physical health.
Park Place provides a safe environment with trained professional and compassionate staff, the
primary goal is to maintain a client’s dignity. Clients are assisted with activities of daily living as
needed, such as basic hygiene, toileting, mobility, and feeding. They are encouraged in pursuing
meaningful projects that provide relaxation, socialization, and fun. These may include physical
and mental exercises, crafts and table games, as well as art, gardening, Music, and Pet
Therapy. Registered Nurses are on staff to administer oral medications, check blood glucose
levels, and administer insulin therapy, as ordered by the client’s physician. They can monitor the
client’s blood pressure, temperature, and heart rate and check weight to assess for minor medical
problems, as well as perform dressing changes and do colostomy care, all part of developing a
plan of care based on individual needs.
